Biography
Dr. Stephen Oliver is currently a program coordinator for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Wilmington University. He has been an adjunct faculty since 20218 teaching both undergraduate and graduate sociology related and research courses. He has developed 2 graduate courses 21st Globalization and Emotional Literacy for the Professional Studies Masters of Science. He is also Chair and 2nd for in the Doctor of Social Science in Prevention Science. guiding students in the dissertation process. His goal is to help both students and faulty in the College of Behavioral Sciences.
Stephen Oliver is also a Human Resources Management, Leadership Development and Learning Consultant. Living in Philadelphia, PA, his management consultancy HRCVision has led him to work with health care organizations and other industries in the Philadelphia area, New Jersey, Baltimore, Northern Virginia & Washington D.C., Florida and other regions of the U.S. He has coached and trained their leaders and staff in the areas of talent management, leadership development, critical thinking, strategic planning, employee engagement, performance management, customer service, emotional intelligence, diversity in the workplace including generations at work, employee training and organizational development. He has also work with sensitivity, discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, and employee safety issues. He has facilitated in both traditional face-to-face methods and on-line virtual formats.
He has worked with start up companies to build the HR function and lay out strategy for recruiting and engaging talent management.
Stephen coaches business owners, executives, middle level manager, front-line managers, employees and students for many years on strategic Human Resources issues, employee relation’s issues, and career development and advice. Recently he has coached leaders in non-profit health service and social services to guide them in their leadership capabilities.
Stephen also teaches Leadership and Management courses, Human Resources Management, Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace and Personality Psychology courses at the University of Virginia Continuing Studies program (SCPS). He is a Capstone mentor to UVA graduating students.
He teaches leadership and Human Resources Management courses at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Nursing, and Widener University (School of Business and School of Nursing). Stephen teaches in both in the traditional classroom environment and in the online virtual modality. Stephen loves to engage his students in the adult learning process by asking questions and challenging them in discussion and feedback.
Dr. Oliver holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Arts degree in Human Resources Development from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. He also has a bachelor’s degree of English from West Virginia University. He has studied in the Distance Education programs from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
